GA4 Audit Service

Know which GA4 numbers you can trust — and what needs fixing.

An expert review of your GA4 setup and the journeys it measures. Trace missing or duplicate signals, explain discrepancies and leave with a prioritized register of findings supported by evidence.

When a GA4 audit is worth doing

If teams hesitate before using a GA4 number in a decision, the cause needs to be tested at the point of collection and against the underlying business outcome.

  • Key events do not match actual enquiries or purchases.
  • An important journey has missing events, repeated events or inconsistent parameters.
  • Direct, referral or campaign traffic does not reflect the journey you can observe.
  • GA4, advertising platforms and CRM or order records disagree without a documented reason.

What gets checked

The review follows the configured property through real user journeys. Ecommerce and lead paths are examined when they are relevant to your business and included in the agreed scope.

01

Collection and configuration

  • Data streams, tagging routes and GTM configuration where used.
  • Cross-domain journeys, consent behaviour and settings that affect collection.
02

Events and key events

  • Event names, trigger conditions, parameters and the key-event definitions used for decisions.
  • Missing events, duplicate firing and events recorded at the wrong step.
03

Ecommerce or lead measurement

  • Purchase, value, currency and transaction identifiers when ecommerce applies.
  • Form and lead milestones, with a check against actual submissions or CRM stages where access allows.
04

Traffic and attribution

  • Campaign tagging, self-referrals, unwanted referrals and breaks between domains.
  • Where attribution differences come from and which reports remain directional.
05

Reconciliation and data quality

  • Compare scoped GA4 outcomes with advertising, CRM or order records using aligned definitions and periods.
  • Identify noisy parameters, inconsistent values and collection limits that change interpretation.

A findings register you can act on

The primary deliverable is a prioritized GA4 findings register. Each entry connects an observed issue to evidence, its decision impact and a recommended next action. It distinguishes confirmed defects from questions that need further validation.

Illustrative entry structure — no client data

Observation
The specific event, setting or journey under review.
Evidence
Reproducible test, configuration reference or reconciled report.
Impact and context
Which decision or reporting view may be affected, including limitations.
Priority and next action
What to verify or fix first, a suggested owner and a way to retest.

How the review works

The depth follows the property, access and agreed questions; no fixed turnaround is assumed.

  1. 01

    Define the decisions

Agree on the core journeys, key events, reference systems and discrepancies that matter.

  2. 02

    Inspect and reproduce

Review configuration and test the collection path, including relevant consent and cross-domain cases.

  3. 03

    Reconcile and rank

Compare definitions and outcomes across the scoped systems; record evidence and priority.

  4. 04

    Handover

Walk through the register, recommended fixes and acceptance checks with the people who will own the next work.

What you receive

Prioritized findings register

Evidence, context, impact, next action and retest guidance for every material finding.

Measurement recommendations

Clear changes to event and key-event definitions where the evidence supports them.

Reconciliation notes

Known reasons for gaps between GA4 and the scoped advertising, CRM or order source; unresolved differences are labelled.

Remediation sequence

A practical order for correction and validation, including dependencies on access or implementation.

Access and inputs

Read-only access is usually enough for diagnosis. Share only the systems relevant to the agreed questions, with access granted through your own accounts.

  • Read access to the relevant GA4 property and GTM container, if GTM is used.
  • A test journey and documentation for important events, leads or purchases.
  • Read access or agreed extracts from advertising, CRM or order systems when reconciliation is in scope.
  • Context on consent, domain transitions and the reporting decisions currently in doubt.

Scope and next steps

The audit diagnoses GA4 measurement. Implementation, a broader growth-system diagnosis and software provision are separate engagements.

Tag fixes, new integrations and ongoing monitoring are not included in the diagnostic unless separately agreed. A GA4 audit also does not replace a full review of acquisition economics, CRM lifecycle and growth strategy.

After handover, your team can work through the prioritized actions and retest each change. If implementation support is needed, we can scope it against the register; no rebuild is presumed.

Questions before commissioning an audit

Can we use the checklist first?

Yes. The GA4 Audit Checklist is a self-audit guide. This service adds expert investigation, evidence for your specific setup and a prioritized handover.

Does the audit include fixing the tracking?

The deliverable is diagnosis and recommended action. Implementation can be scoped separately once the findings and access requirements are clear.

Is this relevant if we do not sell online?

Yes. Lead generation can be reviewed through form events and downstream CRM milestones when those systems are in scope. Ecommerce checks apply only where relevant.

Will GA4 and Google Ads or CRM totals become identical?

Not necessarily. Platforms use different definitions and processing. The review identifies avoidable measurement defects and documents legitimate differences or unresolved gaps.

What if access to another system is unavailable?

The audit can still examine the available GA4 setup. Reconciliation claims are limited to evidence supplied; missing comparisons are marked as limitations.
